Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26th on the 26th of March, 1991. She is an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. On the 21st of October, 2016, she released Pho, her first EP under the Dreamville Records label. It was at this point that she gained her first recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her debut studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox released her music to the internet in 2012, when she dropped her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to share her music over the internet including her independently released single Bound. On 21st of July 2015, Omen was featured on Elephant Eyes song"Sweat It Out. J. Cole had her send her songs to the Dreamville Team later that year as he wanted Rihanna to be able work with her on some references. The announcement that she would sign with Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. Backseat is a track that she sang alongside Cozz in the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. The 21st of October, 2016, she released her debut EP titled Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track, and performed on her own tour, the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she appeared in two tracks, including the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video for it came out on the 5th. In November, she dropped the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Two singles more were released on the 11th of November with the titles Pedigree and One. She then appeared as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single in February, 2019, for her debut album of the same name. The song, released with a video on YouTube 20 February 2019 has been viewed over 3 million times in the first seven days. The singer was a part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December 2018.
